Hosting Events and Activities at UNM

University of New Mexico Procedures

All non-spontaneous demonstrations and speech events should schedule space use at the University of New Mexico.  Previously scheduled events will have priority and users who fail to schedule a speech activity that unduly interferes with a prior scheduled activity, or regular university business, are in violation of UAP 2220: Freedom of Expression and Dissent.  In order to host a successful event, and protect the rights of other organizations, please follow these guidelines. 

To schedule an event at UNM: 

  1. Familiarize yourself with UNM Policies and New Mexico State Laws
  2. Book a Venue for your Event/Activities

    5. Venue management will assist you in navigating university requirements and procedures.  Venues will not approve the use of their space until all requirements have been met.  Requirements may include security assessment and fees, ticketing process requirements, appropriate venue location evaluation (estimated attendance, entrance/exit logistics, campus safety evaluation, etc), potential to interfere with regular campus business, proof of general liability insurance coverage, payment of venue rental fees, and more.
  3. Complete the Following Forms:
    1. Police and Security Evaluation Form
    2. Environmental Health and Safety Special Events Request
  4. General Liability Insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence with the University of New Mexico and its Regents named as additionally insured may be required.
